How to Reach Baku?

It is preferable to use TEM highway to reach Kocaeli. The city has three entrances from TEM, They are Izmit West, Izmit Otogar (Bus terminal) and Izmit East.

Turkey has very well Intercity bus system. So, If you happen to be in any Turkish major town you will have a daily direct service to Kocaeli. There are regular services which take only 10 minutes from city center to terminal and vice versa.

You can reach Kocaeli by train from Ankara – Central Train System.

The Turkey’s busiest airport, Istanbul Ataturk’s Airport is only 110 km to Kocaeli. Istanbul’s other airport, Sabiha Gokcen is around 50 km away.


Landing to Ataturk’s Airport you can take the subway system from inside the terminal building. Follow the signs of “Metro”. In the subway, with a 20 minutes ride reach OTOGAR station.



In Esenler OTOGAR BY bus companies Efe Tur (, Pamukkale (www.; you can reach Kocaeli center (Halkevi Station); then in nearly 20 minutes to KOCAELİ BUS TERMINAL.

From the Sabiha Gokcen airport, there is a direct public transport; municipality bus 250 to KOCAELİ OYOGAR. You can find the bus stop in the terminal open parking area. (

Or you can use your bargaining skills with the taxi drivers waiting in front of the airport’s terminal. Although all the taxis are equipped with proper counters, for long distances you can settle the price beforehand. 200 Turkish Liras (35 Euro) should be a correct price for direct ride to Kocaeli center.

Visa Support

All travelers to Azerbaijan (apart from citizens of most CIS countries) are required to obtain entry visa before they travel. Citizens of Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates have the opportunities to get visas in Azerbaijan International Airports (Baku, Ganja and Nakhchivan). US citizens travelling by the New York –Baku direct flight on Azerbaijan Airlines are also eligible to take short stay single entry Azerbaijan visa upon arrival at the Haydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.

There are two ways to obtain visa to Azerbaijan.

First, electronic visa to Azerbaijan
Starting from January 10, 2017 the State Agency on Public Services and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan will begin to process electronic visas through “ASAN Visa” system.

The foreigners can get the e-visa in just 3 steps (apply, pay and download e-Visa) via the Portal.

Electronic visas will be issued only to nationals of countries listed below:

Second, traditional way for obtaining visa
The second way is to apply for visa in a traditional way through the embassy/consulate of Azerbaijan republic abroad. For obtaining visa in this way you will need an official Letter of Invitation. Invitation letter has to be submitted to consular section of Azerbaijani Embassy along with application form.
