All travelers to Azerbaijan (apart from citizens of most CIS countries) are required to obtain entry visa before they travel. Citizens of Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates have the opportunities to get visas in Azerbaijan International Airports (Baku, Ganja and Nakhchivan). US citizens travelling by the New York –Baku direct flight on Azerbaijan Airlines are also eligible to take short stay single entry Azerbaijan visa upon arrival at the Haydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.
There are two ways to obtain visa to Azerbaijan.
First, electronic visa to Azerbaijan
Starting from January 10, 2017 the State Agency on Public Services and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan will begin to process electronic visas through “ASAN Visa” system.
The foreigners can get the e-visa in just 3 steps (apply, pay and download e-Visa) via the Portal.
Electronic visas will be issued only to nationals of countries listed below:
- Bolivia (Plurinational State of)
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Brunei Darussalam
- Costa Rica
- Czech Republic
- Holy See (Vatican)
- Iran (Islamic Republic of)
- New Zealand
- Republic of Korea
- San Marino
- Saudi Arabia
- South Africa
- Sri Lanka
- Trinidad and Tobago
- United Arab Emirates
- United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
- United States of America
Second, traditional way for obtaining visa
The second way is to apply for visa in a traditional way through the embassy/consulate of Azerbaijan republic abroad. For obtaining visa in this way you will need an official Letter of Invitation. Invitation letter has to be submitted to consular section of Azerbaijani Embassy along with application form.
